"Welcome Home" is the greeting I never grow tired of.
As soon as we arrive at Villa La Estancia, the staff opens the door to our car
and warmly greets us with this now-familiar greeting.
If you've ever wanted a luxury second home (without the
hassles of owning a second home), Cabo San Lucas is an ideal location and Villa
La Estancia (VLE) is the perfect property. With great weather almost ten
months of the year and a rental market equaling that, it's no wonder Cabo is one
of the TOP THREE international destinations for Americans. Golf, surf,
sun, beaches, boating, fishing, diving, snorkeling, celebrities... about the only thing Cabo doesn't
have is skiing (and the cold weather you've left behind).
With direct flights from almost all major North
American cities (USA and Canada) and an expanding airport (adding a second
runway), Cabo is ideally situated as a warm weather destination.
In Cabo, VLE is a prime property ideally situated
on Medano Beach (the swimming beach). Located near the Cabo marina and
downtown district (yet just far enough away to remain exclusive and quiet),
Villa La Estancia is the only property on Medano Beach featuring private
ownership. It's the place to be for luxury and great service.
Villas at VLE are sold either as full-ownership
(unfurnished) or as fractional-ownership (as little as an eighth-share,
furnished and managed by the resort). In addition, some villa owners have
formed private partnerships that own a full villa, thereby splitting use of the
villa with several families (that's what we do with our villas).
Maintenance of the resort is handled by the hotel resort, leaving your ownership
free of headaches. All the benefits of owning a spectacular second home,
without the hassles.
Cost of owning at VLE, especially as a fractional
owner, is surprisingly affordable. In fact, ownership is priced less than
surrounding timeshares (per week) -- and the maintenance fees are considerably less.
And, VLE villas are much larger than typical timeshares. With our
partnership arrangement, you can even use your IRA to purchase your
slice-of-heaven!
Owning at VLE has great benefits. Of course,
being able to escape to YOUR second home, is the BEST benefit. Ownership opens up the great world of trading for equally luxurious properties
around the world. In fact, we originally bought at VLE sight-unseen after
realizing the incredible trading potential property in Cabo has. So far,
we've traded our Cabo home for stays in waterfront homes at Lake Tahoe and
Carlsbad, California. We routinely use our villa for four weeks each
winter and in summer, we usually trade for a waterfront vacation home at Lake
Tahoe. Could it get any better?
We've also traded for fantastic stays at
The
Four Seasons Residence Club, Aviara (Carlsbad). VLE is a trading partner with
The Registry
Collection, RCI's high-end resort
collection. In addition, trades to other Villa La Estancia properties are
possible (Nuevo
Vallarta,
Cancun and
Loreto Bay).
We've had great success using owner-to-owner trading at
HomeExchange.com and
at
HomeExchangeGold.com. We've even been featured in a
New York Times article about exchanging!
We can truly state that since first purchasing at
Villa La Estancia in 2005 that our lives have been changed. Our family is
no longer crowded into hotel rooms and we now vacation in properties that are as
nice (or nicer) than our primary residence. We can now invite family and
friends to travel with us. We once heard the saying "buy memories, not
things" and VLE is the best of both worlds -- we bought into incredible
vacations and memories of having fun and relaxing in a great new world.
More and more "boomers" are buying foreign real
estate. This article,
written by Mike Williams of Cox News Service, explains the attraction and
the benefits of owning. Cabo's popularity, combined with the growth in
tourism that is predicted due to the expansion of the airport (they are adding a
second runway) and the strength of the Canadian Dollar (Cabo is priced in Pesos
and US Dollars -- the Canadian Dollar now buys almost 20 percent more of these
than it did a year ago), puts Cabo on a great track as an investment. But,
we prefer to just consider it our little ownership of sunshine, warmth and
escape during our cold winter months in our home of Bend, Oregon.
Here's an article on the benefits of
fractional ownership by the New York Times.
Another article, in the LA Times, on our Canadian
friends buying real estate in warmer climates:
Another article, stating Cabo is now in the "top
ten" destinations for private jets (no other Mexican or Carribean location is
listed):
click here. Flight Options is a fractional private jet company
and they state that 16% of their December, 2007 travel was to Cabo San Lucas.
Interesting.
With a ten-month season, rental income is excellent. With thirty- to thirty-five weeks of rental income
per year possible (and low expenses), VLE offers a decent return when your property is
sitting idle. Can't trade for a property? Then earmark rental income
to pay for your next vacation!
We love sharing our villa with family, friends and
business associates. Sharing our second home, in such a sought-after
destination, is a wonderful gift that is never forgotten.
